Edsby Release Notes April 20, 2023

A new software release is now available in the Edsby Sandbox. It is expected that this release will be going into production across all customer sites during the May 2-6 timeframe.

New features in this release

Classes panel enhancements

The Classes panel has improved for teachers, student, and parents. For teachers, the student count has returned. The teacher also has unread counters for both the feed and the gradebook. The teacher can create new evidence by clicking the new evidence icon. If report cards are open, a short cut to the report card will appear.

For students and parents, the Classes panel will include the profile or initials of all the teachers of the class, not just the first teacher listed. The panel includes access to the class feed and the My Work report along with an unread counter for both.

Reporting period changes

When a student transfers from School A to School B, report card data can exist in both schools. Previously, the school office was given the option to choose which set of report card data was the correct set for printed or published report cards. Both schools will have the option of printing their own report cards from the Report Cards Zoom.

Course Modelling Enhancements

The modelling system can be used to provide teachers with a turn-key Class that already has the Class options, summary columns, and weighting buckets in place. In this release we’ve added the ability to create Gradebook filters. This will enable organizations to create premade filters for the teachers. For example, teachers can be provided with a filter for formative and summative assessments.

Modelling is a powerful tool that quickly deploys class setup information and content to hundreds of classes. It is strongly recommended that the modelling be performed in the Sandbox system first before deploying any changes to the Production system. This will not only limit any unintended consequences to the Sandbox but will also keep the Sandbox and Production systems in the same state. We also recommend that a test modelling be performed before applying the change.
